You can make custom tabs for pages and places. With that being said you can only select the landing tab for pages and not places. Tabs at the top will be eliminated but you can still select the landing tab for new visitors on a page. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...

It looks like Facebook will eliminate tabs altogether by March 10...my question to you is how did you make a custom Welcome page for the above Places page?

Kyle, are you sure that Facebook is moving to the new style of "not having tabs" and everyting being underneath the profile picture? I have recently created an applicaiton thats intention is to create a custom tab for a car dealership page on facebook. I have multiple dealers using the application and the majority of them have tabs like http://www.facebook.com/pages/... which is where the app was designed to work and works great, but their are a handful of pages like: http://www.facebook.com/pages/... where my application is not functioning properly. The reason why I ask is because when you go to www.facebook.com/pages/create.... ...any option that you choose you always get the "Tab" format not that "box" format with everything on the left. If Facebook were going to the "Box" format, why would any new page created still use the "Tab" format. I am just wondering what you insight is on the subject and to see if you know any more than I do as looking through the discussion boards can be gruesome. Thanks

Nice write-up Kyle. At the end of the day, a little keyword research and implementation goes a long way! A friend of mine authors a real estate blog and gets a great deal of steady traffic because she invested some time in honing in (and writing content) specific towards certain keyword phrases. Well that and she uses Scribe, heh (which she seems to love, so there ya go)...

how are you doing in 2011? Happy New Year:) I know the symptoms of having "too much to do, and not enough time...". It is unnecessary, waste of energy. Have you done any exercises that would help you improve your concentration? there is a 2 minute strategic exercise- take a piece of paper, draw a dot in the middle, and starre at it for at least 2 minutes, every single day...and it works.

Let me ask for your professional opinion.

Should I go with Facebook Places or Facebook Fan Page???

What I like about the places is that people can "check in" when they are at the firm BUT you cannot choose your landing tab. Why can't Facebook just make something that is all inclusive?

Here is what I have done so far:
I went ahead and made another fan page and then clicked merge on the Places page to merge with the fan page. That merged the friends to the fan page. Then I clicked un-merge so the two would not become the same. Now I have two pages that I am working with. The Places Page and the Fan Page.

I know that I can't keep the two active as I would want so should I merge them into Places OR allow the places to just remain as is and focus my efforts on growing the fan page?

Hey Kyle...if this was removed, then chances are that this was turned into a community page by Facebook. That is the only thing I can think of. If this is not the case, then did you take this screen shot the day they accidentally made the future layout live?

I'm glad to help. Facebook is moving to only allowing iFrames so it is safe.

In order to get to the area where you enter the code follow these steps:
1. When you are on your fan page click on edit page.
2. Click on Applications
3. Go to the bottom where it says Static FBML Click Add FBML if you have not already added it or if you have added it click Go to Application.
4. Change the name of the tab by changing the "box title" and then add the code in the FBML box below and click save changes. That's it. In order to add another FBML tab click "Add another FBML box" below the "save changes" link.

kyle is that safe? you said that anyone that uses fbml for a landing page may be frozen later.

Also, when I open the fbml tab, the page comes up and there is no box to add the code. How do I add it?

Then do a search for popcultur-collector on facebook and it should come up.Thank you for your assistance. I tried to ask Jim Rouse of problogger for help. He is too busy to respond for assistance, even though I found most of this info from him originally and that is what got me interested.

Those are some good questions.

First, you can upload an image to WordPress, Hyperlink it to where you want it to go, and then grab the html and insert it into FBML and that will work.

You can also use iFrames and insert the iFrame code into Facebooks FBML and it will draw from the site that you want it to. You can have your autoresponder code in the website that the iframe is drawing from and that will work. They are basically entering their contact info in on your site but doing it through Facebook.

The iframe code is:
<iframe frameborder="”0″" height="”300”" marginheight="”0″hspace=”0″" marginwidth="”0″" scrolling="yes" src="”http://www.yoursite.com/“width=”400”" vspace="”0″"></iframe>

That's it. What is the fanpage that you are looking to work on? Hope this helps.

I read your post on socialmediaexaminer.com about fb freezing pages with fbml. It isn't working for me anyway. I click on the tab and the page opens without any way to put the code in.

How do I access the iframes code and is it similar or different to using HTML. I created my landing page graphic as a jpg file and I want to upload it. Where is the iframe code?

Also, can I use this to create a tab that will take people who follow URL's to my welcome tab/page.
Can I also use the iframe to allow for autoresponder code?
Finally, if I add the image as a jpeg code in wordpress, can I save it in html and then upload to facebook throught the iframe?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am not familiar with this stuff. Thank you for your time and help.

No their was not problem with it. You can choose what posts and where you want it to display. It does have some cool features to it. I think that it will take some time for people to get used to using it.
